NEW YORK LIBRARY ASSOCIATION in Pearl River, NY is hiring for a Circulation and Technical Services role. You will check items in and out, issue library cards, collect fines, shelve materials, answer phones, and assist patrons, representing the library with professionalism.

Starting salary $18.00 per hour. Hours for this position are:
Monday 5pm to 9pm, Wednesday 1pm to 4pm, Thursday 5pm to 9pm, and approximately 1 Saturday and 1 Sunday per month maximum of 17.5 hours per week.
TYPICAL WORK:
The work involves responsibility for the performance of standard clerical tasks including the use of a computer and other office equipment. The work is considered routine in nature. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level clerical employee or administrator. Does related work as required.

CHARACTERISTICS:
Working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; working knowledge of business arithmetic; ability to process documents; ability to file alphabetically and numerically; ability to maintain basic records; ability to understand basic oral and written directions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to demonstrate basic computer skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a customer service-based environment
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge and understanding of the mission public libraries
