Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development seeks a Community Coordinator to support the Division of Neighborhood Preservation with scheduling, data management, and reporting related to shelter inspections and homeless placement efforts.

Role focuses on coordinating weekly inspections, maintaining records, and preparing reports for DHS, while enabling efficient unit tracking and project support in a fast-paced urban environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in community work or related area, or
• High school graduation and six years of experience in community work or related area, or
• Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of the first type.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating weekly DHS shelter assessment inspections and assign workloads to field staff.
• Assist with scheduling inspections of vacant units for Homeless Placement Unit.
• Review shelter inspection reports for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain tracking spreadsheets, databases and reports with timely data entry.
• Prepare and submit weekly failure condition reports to DHS.
• Prepare monthly Score Card Reports and quarterly inspection invoices.
• Track Homeless Placement inspection requests and coordinate follow-up inspections.
• Scan and organize inspection documentation and photos for electronic recordkeeping.
• Provide administrative support for special projects.
