Martinrea is seeking a Body Technician – Paint & Clearcoat Specialist to repair, refinish and restore painted surfaces on automotive components, focusing on clearcoat repair, paint correction, surface preparation and finish quality.

The role requires meticulous workmanship, ability to identify defects, and proficiency with refinishing tools, sanding, buffing and polishing, working within production standards and with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as automotive body technician, paint technician, refinisher, or similar role.
• Strong experience with clearcoat repair and paint finishing.
• Knowledge of sanding, buffing, polishing, blending, and paint correction techniques.
• Ability to identify paint and clearcoat defects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to safely operate automotive refinishing tools and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as clearcoat issues, scratches and paint imperfections.
• Perform clearcoat repairs, paint correction, wet sanding, buffing and finishing.
• Prepare surfaces for refinishing with cleaning, sanding and masking.
• Match and blend paint finishes for a consistent appearance.
• Identify defects and determine repair or refinish methods.
• Maintain proper film thickness and finish quality per specifications.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental rules.
• Communicate quality concerns and material needs to supervisor.
