Job summary

Segers Aero Corporation in Fairhope, Alabama is seeking an Aircraft Cleaning Technician for 2nd shift (four 10‑hour days, Mon–Thu, 2pm–12am with paid lunch). The role involves cleaning parts and components for customer aircraft and engine systems, and performing duties in accord with FAA and DOT safety requirements.

Essential tasks include cleaning with mineral spirits and bead media, preparing surfaces for painting, maintaining a clean, safe workspace, following routings, and reading traveler

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in maintenance or crafts.
  • Experience with aircraft components preferred.
  • Must pass DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with FAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Clean aviation parts with PRF680 mineral spirits, glass and bead.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, stripping, sanding, or chemical treatment.
  • Prepare accessory parts for paint and maintain prep area.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow safety procedures.
  • Read routing tags/sheets/traveler and follow directives.
  • Travel as required.

Cleaning Technician

Wage Range: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour

Segers Aero Corporation located in Fairhope, AL is seeking an Aircraft Cleaning Technician to work 2nd shift (four 10-hour days, Monday - Thursday from 2pm until 12pm with paid lunch). We offer a competitive benefits package,

Purpose of Position:To clean parts and components for Segers Aero Corporation customer aircraft and engine, engine accessories and propellers. This position may work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks. The position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations, and as such, the position is subject to drug and alcohol testing per DOT FAA regulations.

Essential Functions:(must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accomodation.

  • Cleans aviation parts with PRF680(mineral spirit), glass and plastic bead
  • Prepares for painting by cleaning, stripping, sanding, or chemically treating if needed
  • Preps accessory parts (clean, tape, aluminum prep, alodine) for paint
  • Cleans prep area before, after, and during operations
  • Maintains a clean workstation free from Foreign Object and or Debris (FOD), ensures tooling is properly stored
  • Maintains a clean/safe workspace free from spills or obstructions which may lead to harm
  • Properly disposes of excess materials throughout the operation
  • Works in accordance with applicable FAR’s, bulletins, maintenance manuals and acceptable practices
  • Must be able to performs duties with little or no supervision
  • Works to production schedule as directed by manager/lead
  • Must read routing tags/sheets/traveler and follow directives
  • Travels as required
  • Confers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of the department and promote improvement
  • Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
  • Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:(these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)

  • Must be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervisor and to take initiative.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors
  • Must be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations
  • Must be able to apply common sense
  • Must be able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
  • Must be proficient in company specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, ratios, rates and interpret graphs
  • Must be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
  • Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
  • Must be able to hear running machinery
  • Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
  • Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination
  • Must regularly be able to reach overhead
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach overhead, squat, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs as needed.
  • Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
  • Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions

Marginal Functions:(Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person, unless he/she proves unable to perform them after receiving training and/or accommodations that the company judges appropriate)

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older and a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional hands-on experience, including manual work or entry level craftmanship required.
  • Minimum of 1 year troubleshooting of aircraft, automotive and/or industrial engines and equipment or completion of an Aviation School is preferred.
  • Experience cleaning mechanical parts and or components is preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations.

Work Conditions:

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. Noise is generally loud.
