Eastern Carolina Vocational Center (ECVC) is seeking a part-time Cleaner in its Janitorial Department. The role focuses on keeping buildings and grounds clean and orderly, performing duties such as cleaning floors and glass, and removing trash/recyclables.

The position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, with responsibilities including security checks, transporting supplies, restroom upkeep, trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, and floor care.

Qualifications

• Background check must be favorable to work in multiple office buildings.
• Dependable transportation and excellent attendance are expected.

Responsibilities

• Monitors building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure hazards are not created.
• Carry bathroom items and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.
• Services, cleans, and replenishes supply in restrooms.
• Gathers and empty trash or recyclable materials.
• Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
• Clean windows and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and cloths.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming them.
• Independent work duties.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Scrubs, waxes, and/or polishes floors using mops, powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• May be assigned to a specific area of responsibility or asked to work or help-out other areas requiring help.

• Medium work with lifting and/or moving objects up to 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.

• Frequent stooping, crouching
• May assist in the movement or relocation of furniture
