Position Summary

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness levels in campus facilities, providing an environment conducive for teaching, learning and living.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning, including but not limited to: restrooms, offices, classrooms, MPR rooms, parlors, kitchens, student rooms, laundry rooms, locker and shower rooms.
• Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around residences and office buildings.
• Clean floors and rooms – dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, picking up objects off the floor, cleaning glass and windows.
• Clean restrooms – restock dispensers, empty trash, sanitize fixtures, clean mirrors, partitions, doors and walls, sweep and mop floors, clean toilets and urinals.
• Vacuum, empty trash and replace liners.
• Prepare rooms for Commencement and Reunion weekends.
• Notify supervisor(s) of deficiencies and repair needs.
• Set up, stock and maintain cleaning equipment, supplies and supply rooms.
• Monitor and maintain sanitation and organization of assigned areas.
• Use small lightweight floor machines, wet/dry vacuums and other cleaning equipment.
• Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects.
• Follow all health and safety regulations.
• Interact with co-workers and a variety of people and departments in a professional, courteous manner.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• One (1) year of experience in cleaning, maintenance and care of facilities in a similar environment.
• Ability to use small lightweight floor machines, wet/dry vacuums and other cleaning equipment.
• Ability to move, position, transport and place objects up to 50 pounds.
• Effective communication in English – speaking, reading and writing.
• Ability to work productively and efficiently without supervision.
• Work on holidays when required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Willingness to work overtime as available. Overtime will be assigned according to seniority guidelines.

Compensation

$20.03 per hour.
