Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction under a licensed teacher. You will assist with student learning, prepare materials, and supervise lunchroom and playground activities. You may help with displays and photo-copying of educational resources.

Requires a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (or 60 college hours with Work Keys/Parapro) and basic math, strong English skills, and good communication with students and parents.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license or have 60 sem hours and pass a paraprofessional exam.
• Strong English grammar and spelling; basic math knowledge; ability to communicate with students and parents.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and operate classroom equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and student learning under licensed teacher supervision.
• Supervise lunchroom and playground, monitor student behavior and safety.
• Prepare bulletin boards, display student work, and help with copying and materials.
• Assist in collecting homework and exams, and help with attendance and student absences.
