Job summary

Leland Public School seeks a Classroom Aide to provide academic, social-emotional, and operational support in a busy elementary setting. The role requires a self-directed professional who can anticipate needs without disrupting instruction and who helps supervise lunch, transitions, and playground activities.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers with lesson materials, supporting student behavior according to district policy, and offering small-group interventions.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience working with children in education, coaching, or childcare setting highly valued.
• Requirements: Ability to pass all required background checks and meet state requirements for school personnel.

Responsibilities

• Social-Emotional Support: Provide stable, nurturing presence and assist students with self-regulation.
• Behavioral Management: Use low-stakes discipline aligned with district behavior plans.
• Instructional Support: Assist classroom teachers with lesson plans and materials preparation.
• Student Supervision: Supervise lunch, recess, transitions, and outdoor activities for safety and inclusion.
• Site Presence: Maintain visibility across campus and model positive interactions.
• Campus Safety & Logistics: Support opening/closing routines, crossing guard duties, and arrivals.
• Restorative Practices: Facilitate restorative conversations to repair relationships.
• Academic Intervention: Provide small-group academic instruction aligned with core programs.
• Other duties as assigned
