Job summary

Midland Independent School District is seeking a Teacher Assistant, General to support teachers in classroom preparation and management. The aide will work under a certified teacher, helping with materials, small group instruction, and record-keeping.

The position requires a TEA Educational Aide Certificate or eligibility, a high school diploma or GED with college credits, and the ability to interact well with children. The role is full-time on-site with a standard school calendar.

Qualifications

  • TEA Educational Aide Certificate is required or applicant must be willing to apply.
  • Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification is required.
  • High school diploma, GED, or higher; 30 college credits with some focus on child growth/development.
  • Experience working with students and parents as approved by the superintendent.
  • Ability to work well with children.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and enforce school rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Work with individual students or small groups on instructional exercises.
  • Assist in administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
  • Supervise students throughout the day inside and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain neat and orderly classroom and assist with records.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep administrative records and prepare reports.
