Job summary

Chillicothe City School District is seeking a Paraprofessional I - Building Aide to support learning under the direction of building principals and classroom teachers. The role involves working with individual students or small groups to meet skill objectives and reinforce classroom material.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree (preferred), be willing to participate in in-service training, and be eligible for a State Paraprofessional Aide License.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree preferred.
• Willing and able to participate in in-service training.
• Demonstrated ability in working with students in formal and informal situations and evidence of successful work experience.
• Eligible to obtain a State Paraprofessional Aide License.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher by working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Devises strategies for reinforcing material based on students’ needs.
• Guides independent study, enrichment, and remedial work under the teacher’s guidance.
• Corrects papers and supervises testing and makeup work.
• Assists with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
• Serves as information source for substitute teachers and alerts the regular teacher to student issues.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information and participates in inservice training.
• Keeps classroom displays up to date and supervises during drills, assemblies, field trips.
• Administers medications consistent with district policies and student IEPs.
• Accompanies students to inclusion classes as needed and assists with documentation.
