Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
• Assist teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom, and monitorial duties.
• Prepare materials for lessons, demonstrations, and bulletin boards.
• Assist in setting up classroom equipment such as audio-visual records, computer related instructions, and laboratory.
• Distribute and collect instructional materials to students.
• Relieve teachers of classroom duties for short periods by supervising students using prepared learning materials.
• Provide personal assistance to students which may include toileting, hygiene care, feeding support, and mobility assistance.
• Assist teachers and students in selecting supplementary materials from library.
• Assist students with instructional assignments and reinforcement activities using learning materials.
• Provide assistance with correction of test papers, entering grades in database, maintain student files, update attendance records, and prepare statistical reports.
• Perform simple clerical duties such as copying, alphabetizing, filing, and sorting.
• May greet students, teachers and visitors at main entrance and provide general information.
• May translate foreign language and sign for hearing impaired.
• May read to children in lower grades.
• May render minor first aid.
