Qualifications

• High School diploma, Associate degree, or additional training in area of services is preferred.
• Sincere interest in working with children and their developmental needs.
• Ability to work with and follow instructions of the teacher.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with classroom activities and routines as directed by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set by the teacher.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
• Correct papers or workbooks and keep records as assigned by the teacher.
• Prepare bulletin boards and displays as requested by the teacher.
• Serve as the chief source of information and help to substitutes when the regular teacher is absent.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information as expected of licensed teachers.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
• Supervise lunch or play periods as scheduled.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Board.
