Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant in Cleveland, Ohio. The role assists the Teacher with classroom activities, promotes positive student behavior, and helps maintain a safe and healthy school climate.

The Instructional Aide supports teachers with lessons, helps plan activities, participates in school events, and performs clerical tasks while upholding the school’s philosophy and mission.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Successful completion of BCI/FBI check.
• Ability to meet educational standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs.
• Experience in a school or social services setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supports lessons taught by the teacher to individual students or groups.
• Helps plan classroom activities and supports student/parent relations.
• Assists with school activities and events (parent nights, faculty meetings, assemblies, etc.).
• Performs clerical duties such as grading papers and making copies.
• Assists the Teacher in the use of classroom technology.
• Maintains cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom and other school areas.
• Upholds the school’s philosophy and mission in all activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned (field trips, duty rotations).
