Job summary

Springfield School District 186 Laketown Elementary School in Springfield, Illinois seeks six Paraprofessional Classroom STRIVE staff to assist teachers and supervise students. Positions run 7 hours per day (includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch) across 191 days per year, with CPI training included.

Applicants should have educator licensure or eligible substitute licensure, 60 college hours, a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to pass TB and physical tests.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ for Pre-K–5th grade or 20+ for 6th–12th grade.
• Educator licensure or valid substitute licensure with college hours as specified.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to perform all job-related functions and follow directions.
• Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships.
• Physical and TB clearance; CPI course requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with students in the classroom.
• Supervise students in lunch, playground, and bus routines.
• Use copying machine to prepare classroom materials.
• Assist with feeding and toileting of students requiring total care.
• Assist with lifting/positioning of non-ambulatory students.
• Support student self-help skills and perform other duties as assigned.
