Job summary

Menta Academy Galesburg is seeking a Classroom Security Paraprofessional to assist instructors with targeted teaching and student support, ensuring classroom safety and smooth daily operations.

The role requires transporting students via school van, managing behaviors, and providing academic and social-emotional support in a 12-month calendar with a 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule. Eligible candidates will participate in paraprofessional certification and training.

• Provide interventions to students to assist in managing behaviors
• Think quickly, independently, and tactfully
• Respond to emergencies and maintain calm under pressure
• Monitor student interactions and safety during school hours
• Assist instructors with classroom activities and routines
• Support students with high-risk needs and during transitions
• Assist in enforcing school rules and discipline procedures
• Collaborate with staff to support individualized education plans

As a Classroom Security Paraprofessional with The Menta Education Group, you will be responsible for working with classroom instructors and staff to offer targeted teaching and support to students in the classroom, as well as general support for all students in the school.

Galesburg, IL

• Must have Valid Driver's License and be willing to use School Van to transport students before & after school.


• Monday-Friday: Hours vary depending on Transportation Route responsibilities: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This job offers consistent 12 Month Calendar compensation, but follows a 10 Month School Calendar.

No late nights. No weekends. No holidays.

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Provide academic and social-emotional support in the classroom


• Manage classroom behaviors


• Report behavioral concerns of students to appropriate staff


• Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and data


• Maintain classroom order and safety (Security)Provide general supervision of students inside the school setting


• Assist in the prevention and management of incidents of non-compliance and/or escalation in behavior


• Maintain alertness for problems likely to disrupt the educational process or to be a safety concern and correct and report these conditionsRespond to emergency situations


• Provide interventions to students to assist in managing behaviors


• Think quickly, independently, and tactfully


• Security or Juvenile Justice background is helpful


• State of IL PERC Permanent Employee Registration Card is preferred


• Military Veterans are encouraged to apply


• Ability to operate tactfully under stress


• Flexibility to change in routines


• At least 23 years of age


• Able to work with high-risk special needs students


• Transport Students using a School Van before & after school


• Valid D.L. w/Passenger Endorsement and \"clean\" driving record
