Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; associate’s degree or two years of college; valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Preferred: 30–59 college credit hours.
• Special knowledge: ability to work well with children; communicate effectively; assist in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individuals or small groups.
• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and manage inventory of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and reports; orient and assist substitute teachers.
• Supervise students during the day, including lunch, bus, and playground duties.
