Job summary

Leman Academy of Excellence Inc is seeking an ESS Teacher Assistant for the Central Tucson Campus for the 2026/2027 school year. The role involves supporting teachers in using a classical education approach, preparing materials, and providing differentiated instructional support to scholars.

Responsibilities include supervision of students, facilitating small groups, and upholding school policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• An Associate's or higher degree or 60 completed college credits.
• Passing score on skills assessment (ParaPro).
• AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
• First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Willingness to learn the Classical model of education.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding classical education principles.
• Ability to communicate professionally with scholars, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the learning environment established by the classroom teacher.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources aligned with the classical model.
• Provide instructional support to scholars using whole-class, small group, and one-on-one approaches.
• Supervise scholars in hallways, drop-off, lunch and pick-up as directed by the Principal.
• Read books to classes or small groups.
• Administer formative assessments and assignments as directed.
• Maintain scholar records in accordance with school policy and FERPA.
• Assist in preparing scholars for later grades by fostering perseverance and exploration.
• Support enforcement of school policies and safety rules.
• Attend professional development sessions as requested.
