Job summary

USD 259 is seeking a paraeducator to assist the classroom teacher with instruction of basic academic skills and to support students individually or in small groups. The role includes developing teaching aides, maintaining order, and using classroom technology under supervision of a certified teacher.

You will collaborate with staff to plan and implement programs, monitor student progress, and provide translations if bilingual. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Paraprofessionals in Title Schools must have 48 college credits or pass a state assessment.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs activities to reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups.
• Assists students with individual assignments.
• Modifies activities with teachers to meet student needs.
• Performs informal assessment activities.
• Collects data and maintains records on student performance.
• Maintains learning centers and instructional materials.
• All instructional activities under direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Bilingual paras may provide translation and interpretation and assist students in their native language.
