Job summary

Wichita Public Schools is seeking a paraeducator to assist the classroom teacher with instruction of basic academic skills and to support students in English, mathematics, reading, and social skills. You will prepare teaching aids, supervise students, and help maintain order in the classroom.

The role requires collaboration with staff, data collection on student progress, and the ability to use education tools and equipment like SMART boards and iPads.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 48 accredited college credits verifiable with transcript or pass state assessment.
• Associate's Degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs activities designed to reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups.
• Assists students with individual assignments.
• Works with teachers to modify activities to meet individual student's needs.
• Performs informal assessment activities.
• Assists teachers in collecting data and maintaining records regarding student performance.
• Assists in the maintenance of learning centers and instructional materials.
• All instructional activities must take place under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Bilingual Paraeducators may provide translation and interpretation services.
