Job summary

Seneca’s James Baldwin Academy in San Leandro, CA is hiring a Classroom Counselor. You will guide 5-12th graders, provide healing-centered emotional support, and collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and leadership to promote academic and personal growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher, OR associate degree with 1 year of applicable experience, OR high school diploma/GED with 2 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other specialists to deliver integrated support.
• Build therapeutic relationships that help students engage and achieve personalized goals.
• Support academic instruction by assisting with individual and group activities as directed.
• Implement classroom modifications and accommodations based on IEPs and other plans.
• Deliver direct behavioral intervention that reduces challenging behaviors and promotes positive behaviors.
• Communicate effectively with families and other Seneca programs or external agencies.
• Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure effectiveness and inform decisions.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Associate degree + 1 year of applicable experience

High school diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
