Job summary

Emerald Charter Schools seeks an Associate Teacher to help prepare scholars for college and community leadership. The role focuses on assisting the classroom teacher, delivering instruction, and maintaining an engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities include supporting assessments, supervising students, and providing small-group instruction. The position reports to the Grade Band Director and is full-time, salaried, exempt, with a focus on high expectations and equity.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or college degree preferred.
• Enrollment in teacher education program preferred.
• Experience in education; 1-2 years’ urban education experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must thrive in an innovative environment.
• Must work collaboratively to form creative solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills with scholars and parents.

Responsibilities

• Support the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality instruction and documenting student progress.
• Assist in establishing a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
• Support administration of classroom and state assessments while maintaining testing integrity.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional settings.
• Provide small-group and individualized instructional support to reinforce learning.
• Prepare instructional materials and maintain an effective learning environment.
• Participate in professional learning, coaching, and collaborative planning.
• Oversee scholars during early morning arrival on a rotating schedule.
