$31,721 - $38,700; commensurate with experience
Assist lead teacher with carrying out the daily activities of the classroom, including leading and engaging children in small and large group activities, assisting with regular routine tasks such as toileting, preparing and assisting with snacks and lunch, and supervising children at all times. Share responsibility with lead teacher to promote children’s development in cognitive, physical, social emotional and self-help skills. Take full responsibility/lead for classroom activities and supervision/oversight when lead teacher's shift ends 1.5 hours each day and in the absence of the lead teacher.
High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) with 6 or more college credits in early education, child development or related field regarding the health, well-being or development of children and working with families; OR high school diploma/HSE with 6 or more college credits in the field of early childhood or family studies.
One year experience working with young children between birth to five years of age and or their families; OR one or more practicum/intern experiences working with children or their families in a home or community based setting/program.
- Participation in state approved early childhood professional development program such as Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance CDA program
- Participation in training or workshops on best practices and supporting children’s social and emotional development
- One or more years of experience with children and their families from birth to age 5 in home or community-based settings
- One or more years of experience with children ages 1 - 6 years old with special needs/disabilities
Child Development Associate (CDA) degree or commitment to complete coursework to earn CDA within first three years of employment. Full funding available to pursue this degree.
