Job summary

The University of Miami in Miami, FL is seeking a full-time Classroom Assistant to support diverse learners and assist in classroom instruction under teacher guidance. You will help monitor student progress, prepare materials, and maintain organized records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• No Experience Required
• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines
• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
• Commitment to the University’s core values
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
• Completion of criminal history checks and all background screening requirements, including Level 2 screening requirements in accordance with the requirements of Florida Statutes (as applicable)
• Completion of training hours and certifications as required by APPLE Accreditation and DCF requirements (as applicable)

Responsibilities

• Presents subject matter to students under the direction of teachers and assists in classroom instruction.
• Assists in implementing individual education programs and monitors student progress.
• Supports students with emotional or behavioral problems and helps develop social skills.
• Assists teachers with photocopying and maintaining student records.
• Plans and implements lesson activities in alignment with school goals and objectives.
• Creates a learning-conducive classroom environment using effective teaching strategies.
• Supervises students during the school day across all areas of the school.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and safeguards assets.
