Job summary

ENRICHMENT SERVICES PROGRAM INCORPORATED is seeking an aide at Stewart Head Start to rotate between classrooms, ensuring breaks for teaching staff while preserving appropriate staff-student ratios. The role supports meal service setup and cleanup and helps keep the center clean and sanitary.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED; CDA is preferred and at least one year of experience with children aged birth to three.

Responsibilities

• Rotate between classrooms to provide breaks for primary staff.
• Support teaching staff to maintain required staff-student ratio.
• Assist with setup and cleanup related to meal services.
• Wash, dry and fold clothes and linens for classrooms.
• Maintain safe and sanitary food handling practices.
• Keep kitchen clean and report health hazards.
• Maintain a clean workstation including storage, equipment, and utensils.
• Prepare and package meals and snacks for delivery to classrooms.
• Deliver meals according to meal service schedule.
• Assist with trash and waste removal after meals.
• Wash dishes and clean kitchen on daily/weekly schedule.
• Provide general cleaning and upkeep of building areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Center Family Support Manager.

Job Summary

Incumbent provides support to primary classroom staff by rotating within the Center to allow teaching team members to take breaks while still maintaining the appropriate staff to student ratio.

Major Responsibilities/Activities

• Rotate between classrooms within the Center, providing breaks for primary classroom staff.
• Provide support to classroom teaching staff to maintain required ratio, in the absence of a regular Substitute or Teacher Assistant
• Assist teaching staff with set up and clean up related to meal services.
• Wash, dry and fold clothes and linens for classrooms
• Always demonstrate safe and sanitary food handling practices.
• Keep the kitchen free of health and safety hazards; report and eliminate them when appropriate to prevent injury and/or the spread of illness.
• Always maintain a clean and sanitary workstation, including but not limited to; work areas, storage areas, equipment, supplies, serving and eating utensils.
• Prepare and package meals and snacks for delivery to the individual classrooms.
• Deliver meals and snacks to the individual classrooms in compliance with an established meal service schedule.
• Assist with trash & waste removal following each meal service.
• Wash dishes after meals, clean kitchen on a daily and weekly schedule, and maintain a sanitary kitchen environment.
• Serve as ancillary support to other staff members in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of the classrooms, restrooms, and other common areas of the facility (containing and/or mopping up spills and removing debris, etc.)
• Provide general cleaning and upkeep of the building as assigned (in conjunction with center staff) including daily cleaning of restrooms; sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping of floors; wiping down surfaces; and cleaning windows.
• Other duties as assigned by the Center Family Support Manager

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
• Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
• Minimum one year experience with children ages birth to three years of age
