Job summary

The Moses Lake School District 161 Transportation Dept. is seeking a reliable Bus Driver to operate Route 24 and Route 34, with M-F hours and 180 school days. The role requires a valid WA driver’s license, CDL with passenger endorsement, and a current WA Bus Driver’s Authorization.

You will report on time, assist passengers, and complete paperwork and safety procedures. Applicants should be prepared to meet physical and character requirements, attend trainings, and maintain district email

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license is required.
• CDL Class A or B with passenger endorsement is required.
• Must hold a current Washington Bus Driver’s Authorization.
• Must meet WAC 392-144-102 physical standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and reliable transportation service by operating a school bus or other vehicle with a fixed or changing route.
• Reports to duty on time and maintains route on time but in a safe manner.
• Physically assists passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency.
• Immediately reports any accident or incident per policy.
• Maintains neat and professional appearance and completes required paperwork on time.
• Safely uses vehicle equipment including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency equipment.
• Attends all training and safety meetings; cooperates with staff and maintains punctuality.
• Maintains district email and responds to messages; performs other related tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver's license.
• A commercial driver's license. Class A or B with passenger endorsement.
• Must have a current Washington State Bus Driver's Authorization.
• Must meet all physical and character standards as established in WAC 392-144-102.
• Must successfully complete pre-employment physical.
• Must possess a valid First Aide Card.
• Bilingual preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides safe and reliable transportation service by operating a school bus or other location specific vehicle with a fixed or changing route.
• Reports to duty on time and maintains route on time but in a safe manner.
• Physically assists passengers in evacuation of the vehicle in case of emergency.
• Immediately reports any accident or incident per Company policy.
• Informs all appropriate personnel of problems/procedures.
• Presents a neat and professional personal appearance at all times.
• Completes all required paperwork (including route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests) and submits to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
• Safely and efficiently utilizes vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios and emergency equipment.
• Attend all assigned training, safety meetings, and in-service meetings.
• Accept responsibility for assignments and outcomes.
• Work cooperatively with other staff; maintain positive, respectful relationships and engagements.
• Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
• Maintain district assigned email account; read and respond to messages regularly.
• Other such job-related tasks as assigned.
