Class Teacher Position

Maine Coast Waldorf School is now hiring a full-time Class Teacher for our growing school in Freeport, Maine. This position has a reliable teaching schedule averaging 40 hours per week during the academic year, plus professional development days. This position may begin immediately, or at a mutually-agreed upon time during the 2026-27 school year.



About The Position

Maine Coast Waldorf School is an independent Waldorf school serving approximately 280 students from Early Childhood through Grade 12 on a 75-acre campus in Freeport, Maine. The school is known for its rigorous academics, experiential learning, outdoor education, arts, international exchange opportunities, and close-knit community. As a small school, every member of the faculty and staff contributes meaningfully to the student experience, and collaboration is at the heart of our work.


Our talented and dedicated faculty, who find strength, vision, and inspiration from many different sources, are committed to providing a superb Waldorf education. An interest in Anthroposophy is a plus. We are well supported by an active Board of Directors and a creative and generous parent community.



Qualifications

Ideal candidates are Waldorf-trained teachers with a Bachelor’s degree, several years of teaching experience and a commitment to Waldorf education. Applicants must be dedicated to excellence in teaching and recognize the importance of parent education, self-development, and collegial cooperation. If a candidate has not completed a training program recognized by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, it will become an expectation that the individual begins that training as soon as possible. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.



Salary & Benefits


  • Salary begins at $55,000 with increases for a Master’s degree and full-time teaching experience

  • 50%-80% tuition remission is available for qualifying employee dependents enrolled

  • Additional benefits are available, depending on the candidate's work schedule
