Job summary

Modern Transit Inc. in Los Angeles seeks a Shuttle Driver to provide safe, courteous transportation between parking areas and hospital campuses.

You will navigate routes, assist passengers, and maintain a clean, orderly shuttle environment, including handling wheelchair lifts if needed. Requirements include a valid California Class A or B with Passenger Endorsements, a clean driving record, and be at least 23 years old.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles over specified routes or destinations according to time schedules.
  • Inspect vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels before departure.
  • Assist passengers on and off the shuttle, including elderly or disabled individuals.
  • Ensure safe loading/unloading and operation of wheelchair lifts and tie-downs.
  • Report incidents and vehicle malfunctions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and calm interior; follow company policies.

POSITION SUMMARYThe Shuttle Driver's primary duty is to provide safe, efficient, and courteous transportation for customers traveling between the parking lot and various hospital and medical buildings. This involves carefully navigating routes and making sure all passengers have a pleasant and welcoming experience. *Must have a valid CA Class C, B, or C driver's license and a clean driving record. Must be 23 or older.*ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESDrive vehicles over specified routes or destinations according to time schedules, complying with traffic regulations to ensure passengers have a smooth and safe ride.Inspect vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels before departure.Inspect vehicles regularly to find any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues; Perform routine cleaningMaintains a clean, pleasant, and calm environment inside the shuttle (including but not limited to windows rolled up, interior lights on, no air freshener spraying, no items on the dashboard, and no food on the shuttle)Keeps all areas of the shuttle clean (including shuttle interior and windows)Park vehicles at loading areas so that passengers can board.Advise passengers to be seated and orderly while in vehicles.Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off the shuttle, ensure they are correctly seated, and answer questions about shuttle schedules or routes.Ensure the safe loading and unloading of passengers, including the safe operation and handling of specialized equipment for unloading passengers with special needs (i.e, wheelchair lifts and tie-downs)Handle passenger emergencies or disruptions.Record information, such as customer and trip counts, and maintain a log book.Immediately reports any incidents or claims to the Facility Manager or shift supervisorReport any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Facility ManagerComplies with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations and requirements governing, including the Department of TransportationFollows all company policies and procedures as outlined in Modern Transit Inc.’s Employee HandbookPerforms additional duties as reasonably requested by Management, especially during downtimesMaintains and regulates safety procedures, such as ensuring passengers are wearing seat belts (if applicable)Complies with all uniform and appearance guidelinesJob duties may be modified at any time.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSCurrent California Driver's LicenseClass A or B with Passenger Endorsements to operate Shuttle BusesMust be a minimum of 23 years of ageMust be able to drive vehicles, both manual and automaticAdaptable to changes in the work environment; can deal with changes, delays, or unexpected eventsMust have effective interpersonal skills to interface with customersMust be able to work varied schedules and flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidaysCurrent Medical CertificationValid/Acceptable Driving RecordMedical ScreeningBackground ScreeningClearing House ScreeningPHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to lift, push, and pull to a maximum of 25 to 50 lbs.Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and frequently lift throughout a shift.Ability to perform functions that require repetitive motions using hands, wrists, and arms.Must be able to work outdoors and in various weather conditions – heat, wind, rain, etc.The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functionsSchedule: Sunday, 7:30 am - 1:30 pm & Monday - Thursday 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm
