Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is hiring CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers in Shelton, CT. The role requires safety compliance, operating refuse trucks, and may include lifting heavy loads. Successful candidates will receive a competitive hourly wage of $25.00 to $32.00 with a full benefits package including medical and 401(k).

Qualified candidates must have a valid CDL, a clean driving record, and be able to navigate tight spaces. Work schedule is Monday to Friday with occasional early morning starts.

Interstate Waste Services is now hiring CDL B Front Load Truck Drivers. Safety is our first priority.

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly pay: $25.00 – $32.00 per hour
• Schedule: Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays, early start times 4 or 5 a.m.
• Location: Shelton, CT

Job Highlights

• Drivers safely operate front, side or rear‑loading trucks for pick‑up service of bags or containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
• Transport material to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities; may make one or more trips per shift.
• Both manual and automatic trucks are deployed.
• Position may require repeatedly lifting up to 50 pounds and moving and maneuvering up to 100 pounds, including mounting and dismounting the truck multiple times per route.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate trucks safely and comply with DOT, OSHA and local traffic regulations.
• Perform driver pre‑ and post‑inspections, ensuring truck is in compliance with safety standards.
• Navigate congested communities and confined or tight areas; perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
• Climb in and out of truck cab to serve customer accounts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake endorsement.
• One‑year CDL driving experience within the last 7 years.
• Excellent safety record and clean MVR.
• Experience as a driver or helper for a refill company is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English, use maps, enter reports and records.
• Meet physical and safety requirements.
• Willing and able to work required hours, which may include weekends, nights and/or holidays as allowed under DOT regulations.

Additional Job Requirements

• Routes may require navigating through congested, confined or tight city areas.
• Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential.
• Driver pre and post inspections required; maintain truck compliance with IWS safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations and local traffic laws.
• Other duties as assigned.
