Job description

B&S Site Development is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Sweeper Truck Driver to join our Midwest team. The Sweeper Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a heavy-duty street sweeper truck to clean and maintain roadways, private streets, parking lots, construction sites, and other assigned areas.

This position plays an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and professional job sites while supporting the successful completion of B&S Site Development projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, comfortable operating heavy equipment, and committed to following all company and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions
  • Safely operate a heavy-duty sweeper truck to remove dirt, dust, debris, leaves, trash, and other materials from roadways, parking lots, construction sites, and other assigned areas.
  • Perform sweeping operations efficiently and thoroughly according to project requirements and established routes.
  • Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the sweeper truck and report any mechanical, safety, or operational concerns.
  • Ensure equipment, supplies, and materials are properly secured before operating the vehicle.
  • Monitor the vehicle and sweeping equipment during operation to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, service concerns, accidents, injuries, or property damage promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Follow assigned routes, schedules, job-site instructions, and directions from supervisors or dispatch.
  • Coordinate with Route Supervisors, Project Managers, Foremen, and other field personnel to support efficient operations.
  • Assist other company drivers or field personnel as directed.
  • Complete required daily logs, job tickets, inspection reports, mileage records, and other documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers, subcontractors, employees, and the public.
  • Participate in required safety meetings, training, toolbox talks, and company briefings.
  • Follow all applicable DOT regulations, company policies, job-site safety requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating a street sweeper, vacuum truck, dump truck, or other heavy equipment.
  • Previous construction, site development, environmental services, waste management, transportation, or related industry experience.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
  • Experience performing daily vehicle inspections and maintaining driver logs.
  • Experience working on construction sites or around heavy equipment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or experience identifying equipment issues.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights, weekends, or extended shifts based on project requirements.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position may include:

  • Sitting and driving for extended periods.
  • Standing and walking on construction sites and other work areas.
  • Frequently bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and maneuvering around equipment.
  • Ability to enter and exit the sweeper truck repeatedly during the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to shovel debris and assist with cleaning the sweeper hopper when required.
  • Ability to operate equipment controls and maintain sufficient hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to see clearly and maintain concentration while operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and other personnel.
  • Ability to perform job duties safely in varying weather and field conditions.

The Sweeper Truck Driver will primarily work outdoors and may be exposed to:

  • Dust, dirt, debris, and airborne particulates.
  • Noise from heavy equipment, vehicles, and construction activities.
  • Grease, oil, and other materials commonly found in construction environments.
  • Hot, cold, wet, windy, and changing weather conditions.
  • Uneven terrain and active construction-site environments.
  • Traffic and other moving vehicles or equipment.

Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required by company and job-site safety policies.

Safety & Compliance

Safety is a fundamental part of this position. The Sweeper Truck Driver is expected to operate all vehicles and equipment responsibly and in accordance with company policies, applicable federal and state regulations, DOT requirements, and job-site safety procedures.

Employees are expected to immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, equipment concerns, or property damage to their supervisor.
