GENERAL SUMMARY:

Company-Drivers are responsible for on-time delivery of freight between Dollar General Distribution Centers, stores, and vendors. Responsibilities include hauling and unloading multi-stop freight to stores, returning freight and rolltainers to the Distribution Center, and operating vehicles safely for interstate and intrastate deliveries.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Transport store-delivery freight, store returns, and backhauls over-the-road safely, efficiently, and in compliance with policies and regulations. (40%)
2. Unload and reload freight and rolltainers at each stop safely and efficiently, including handling rolltainers and individual boxes/totes, reloading return items, and securing freight. (30%)
3. Provide professional customer service to store teams, vendors, and distribution employees. (10%)
4. Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain records as per legal requirements. (10%)
5. Ensure vehicle operation complies with all laws and regulations. (10%)

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

• Availability for routine overnight travel and any day of the week.
• Physical ability to squat, crouch, reach, push, and pull freight, including handling rolltainers weighing up to 1,200 pounds.
• Ability to perform vehicle-related tasks such as installing tire chains, hooking trailers, and securing freight.
• Ability to work in severe weather conditions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Class A CDL required. Minimum of six months tractor/trailer driving experience. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Must meet all safety and medical standards, including drug/alcohol testing.
