GENERAL SUMMARY:

Company-Drivers are responsible for on-time delivery of freight between Dollar General Distribution Centers, stores, and vendors. They haul and unload multi-stop freight to Dollar General Stores, return freight (as required), and rolltainers to the Distribution Center. They operate vehicles safely, transporting freight including interstate and intrastate deliveries.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Transport freight: Deliver store freight, returns, and backhauls over-the-road safely, efficiently, and on time, adhering to all policies and regulations. (40%)
2. Unload and reload freight: At each stop, safely handle rolltainers and boxes, and re-secure freight for return. (30%)
3. Customer service: Provide professional service to store teams, vendors, and distribution employees. (10%)
4. Documentation: Complete paperwork and maintain records per laws and regulations. (10%)
5. Vehicle operation: Ensure compliance with all safety and legal standards. (10%)

Knowledge and Skills:

• Availability for overnight travel and any day of the week.
• Ability to handle freight physically and operate vehicle controls.
• Work in severe weather conditions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• Minimum six months tractor/trailer driving experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Meet all DOT standards, including medical and safety requirements.
