Job summary

CrossCountry Freight Solutions is seeking an experienced Class A Shuttle/Yard Driver in Fargo, ND. This non-exempt, full-time role focuses on moving trailers on company property and short-haul shuttle runs to support loading and unloading operations.

You will inspect, hook/unhook, and secure freight, maintain records per DOT, and back up delivery routes when needed. The position requires safe operation, adherence to regulations, and reliable communication with dispatch.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL is required with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements or willingness to obtain (renewals reimbursable).
• Minimum 21 years of age with at least 1 year of commercial driving experience.
• No DUI/DWI in the past 3 years and no more than 3 traffic violations in the past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer safely on company property (85%) and on public roads for off-site shuttle runs (15%).
• Hook/unhook trailers, manage landing gear, fifth wheel, safety chains and doors; fuel and check fluids.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintain driving records per DOT.
• Determine loading methods to maximize trailer capacity and secure cargo.
• Handle paperwork (BOLs, receipts) at stops and return to the service center.
• Spot and reposition trailers to ensure dock alignment and support loading/unloading operations.
• May serve as backup for deliveries as needed and communicate trailer status to dispatch.
• Adhere to safety and hazardous materials regulations; keep vehicle clean.

JOB SUMMARY

TheShuttle Driver is a hybrid role responsible for moving trailers and equipment both on Company property (approximately 85% of time) and to off-site locations via short-haul shuttle runs (approximately 15% of time). Primary duties include picking up and dropping off trailers at customer locations, intermodal facilities, drop yards, and partner carrier sites, as well as spotting and repositioning trailers within the service center yard to support loading and unloading operations. This position may also serve as a backup for delivery routes as operational needs require. The Shuttle Driver willbe requiredtomaintainrecords byretainingload-related paperwork in compliance with DOT guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Operates a tractor-trailer combination in a safe and legal manner both on Company property (approximately 85% of time) and on public roadways for off-site shuttle runs (approximately 15% of time).
• Hook and unhook various commercial combinations, to manually lower and raise landing gear,operatesfifth wheel release levers, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, and fuels and check oil/coolant levels of vehicles.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintaindriving recordsrequiredtocomply withState and Federal regulations.
• Determineoptimalmethodfor loading freight to minimize damage and maximize trailer capacity; secure cargo within the vehicle to avoid damage.
• Pick up and drop off trailers at customer facilities, drop yards, intermodal/rail locations, and partner carrier terminals as dispatched; obtain required paperwork (BOLs, interchange receipts) at each stop and return completed documents to the service center.
• Spot and reposition trailers within the service center yard to ensure proper dock door alignment and supporttimelyloading/unloading operations.
• May serve as a backupdriver delivery routesas operationally required; ability to sort and deliver freight to multiple stops is expected in this capacity.
• Communicate trailer status, yard positions, and any equipment defects or delays to dispatch and the Service Center Managerin a timely manner.
• Adhere to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulationsregardingsafety and hazardous materials.
• Clean andmaintainthe interior and exterior of vehicles according to Company vehicle standards.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Skills & Knowledge

• Valid Class A CDL
• At least 21 years of age

Physical Demands

• Must be able tofrequentlyenter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle.
• Must be able to safely maneuver freight/pallets weighing up to 2,500 pounds onto a dolly or cart with a force of up to 130 pounds with mechanical aid in various environments/conditions.
• Must be able to carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds fora distance of upto 20 feet.
• Must be able to hook and unhook various commercial combinations, to manually lower and raise landing gear, to operate fifth wheel release levers, to lock and release pintle-hooks, to attach and release safety chains, to open and close cargo doors, to climb into and out of vehicles, and to fuel and check oil/coolant levels of vehicles.
