Job summary

DFA is seeking a professional truck driver based in Georgia to operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or doubles trailer. You will deliver products safely according to route schedules, maintain logs, and communicate with customers and supervisors.

A valid CDL-A and DOT compliance are required, with focus on safety and on-time deliveries. Responsibilities include loading/unloading per route, maintaining the vehicle, completing daily paperwork, and participating in driver workshops.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer in last 5 years preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL; may require doubles endorsement; license for at least three years prior to application.
• Must meet all DOT requirements and DFA MVR standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules and policies.
• Deliver products according to route schedule and customer expectations in a safe and timely manner.
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns.
• Load/unload as required at designated stops; stock and order product as needed.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform basic maintenance checks.
• Complete all daily paperwork and logs per company policy and DOT guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with customers and supervisors; attend driver workshops.

Job description

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
• Use company supported applications or systems properly
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
