Job summary

Dem-Con HZI BioEnergy, LLC seeks a dependable Equipment Operator / Class A Driver to transfer, spread and load MSW, wood waste, recyclables, and related materials. You will operate excavators, loaders, and heavy trucks, performing inspections and routine maintenance while keeping precise logs.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma or GED and a valid Class A CDL, with experience on heavy equipment. Outdoor work environment, strong safety mindset, and ability to lift up to 100 pounds are

Responsibilities

• Transfer, spread, cover and load waste materials using excavators, loaders and trucks.
• Operate heavy commercial trucks, tractor-trailers and roll-offs.
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain records and logs of operations and maintenance.
• Carry out site grounds maintenance and routine facility upkeep.
• Provide general equipment maintenance as needed.

Description

The Equipment Operator / Class A Driver position is responsible for transferring, spreading and loading MSW, Clean Wood, C and D waste, and Single Sort Recyclables to ensure materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Transfer, spread, cover, load and/or compact solid waste or soil while operating excavators, loaders, landfill compactors, backhoes, tractors and skid steers as well as off-road trucks
• Process materials for recycling while operating grinders and screeners
• Operate heavy commercial trucks, tractor-trailers and roll-offs
• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles
• Maintain various records and/or logs
• Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles
• Pick materials from incoming loads
• Carry out site grounds maintenance including; picking litter, mowing, weed whipping, street sweeping, plowing and dust control
• Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenance
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED
• Class A CDL
• Previous experience with heavy equipment
• May be required to obtain various certifications related to assigned area of responsibility

WORK CONDITIONS:

Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals
