Job summary

Maersk in Ladson, SC is seeking a CDL Class A Driver to safely transport freight to customers and distribution centers. You will operate tractor-trailers, complete inspections, secure cargo, and maintain records while delivering courteous service to customers and dispatch.

The role runs Mon-Fri, start 8am, end 5pm, with pay at $25.00 per hour. Expect about 250 miles daily and 16 stops; 1 year TT experience preferred. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered after 90 days.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record.
  • Current DOT medical certification.
  • LTL/City driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements.
  • Ability to operate tractor-trailers safely in varied conditions.
  • Accurate logs and transportation records.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Willing to work overtime and flexible schedules.
  • Must speak/read/write English.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A CMVs, including tractor-trailers.
  • Transport freight per routes, schedules, and customer needs.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo.
  • Maintain logs and delivery documents.
  • Communicate with dispatch about routes and delays.
  • Drive safely at loading docks and customer sites.
  • Report accidents, violations, or unsafe conditions.
  • Assist with loading/unloading when required.

The driver operates commercial motor vehicles, completes required inspections, securescargo, maintains accurate records, and provides professional customer service.Key Responsibilities:• Safely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers.• Transport and deliver freight according to assigned routes, schedules, and customer requirements.• Perform required pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.• Properly load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.• Follow all applicable DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, traffic laws, company policies, and customer-siterules.• Maintain accurate electronic or written logs, delivery documents, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other requiredrecords.• Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, delays, deliveries, vehicle issues, and changes in operating conditions.• Safely maneuver vehicles at loading docks, yards, parking areas, and customer locations.• Promptly report accidents, traffic violations, mechanical problems, cargo damage, and unsafe conditions.• Maintain a clean and professional vehicle, work area, and appearance.• Provide courteous and professional service to customers and operational partners.• Assist with loading and unloading freight when required.Qualifications & Skills:• Valid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record required.• Current DOT medical certification required.• LTL/City driving experience preferred.• Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation compliance standards.• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial motor vehicles in varied driving and weather conditions.• Ability to accurately complete logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and transportation records.• Strong customer service, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.• Strong attention to safety, cargo security, and regulatory compliance.• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.• Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and flexible schedules when required.• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.Physical Requirements:This position requires frequent entering and exiting of commercial vehicles, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling,crouching, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Employees must be able to perform required vehicle and cargoinspections, secure loads, and lift and move products weighing up to 75 lbs. when required.Safety Expectations:Employees are expected to comply with all company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, OSHA standards, TSArequirements where applicable, and customer-site safety rules.
