GAATCO in Charleston, SC is looking for a Local Container Class A CDL driver. This is a home-daily, Monday–Friday position with no-touch freight and an average 20-mile one-way run within roughly 150 miles of Charleston.

Start time is 5:00 AM with on-site orientation in North Charleston. Pay starts at $25.00 per hour, plus weekend, hazmat and other bonuses as listed; additional $250 orientation, $3,000 referral, $500 transition, and hazmat pay for delivered loads.

Qualifications

• 6 months container or tanker experience in last 3 years

Responsibilities

• Pick up loaded shipping containers from port terminals and deliver to customers.
• Return empty containers to terminals.
• Operate no-touch freight with day cab and container chassis.
• Drop-and-hook or live unload.

Local CDL-A drivers in the Charleston, SC, area are needed for a dedicated container drayage position with consistent local work, daily home time, and a Monday-Friday schedule.

Local Container Work

Drivers pick up loaded shipping containers from port terminals in the Charleston area, deliver them to customers, and return empty containers.

Customers are located within approximately 150 miles of Charleston, with the average one-way trip being around 20 miles.

This is no-touch container freight, using day-cab equipment and container chassis.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday

• Start time: 5:00 AM

• Home every day

• Occasional Saturday work, generally about once per month

Pay & Bonuses

Starting Pay: $25.00/hour

Weekend Pay: Additional $5.00/hour when working weekends.

HAZMAT Pay: Additional $10.00 per delivered load

New-Hire Transition Bonus: $500.00
Paid in full on your second paycheck.

Referral Bonus: $3,000.00

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL

• Minimum 6 months of container or tanker experience within the last 3 years

• Valid Hazmat endorsement

• Valid TWIC card

• Safe driving record

• Ability to work occasional Saturdays

• No pets or passengers

Orientation

Orientation is held on-site in North Charleston, SC.

On-site classes are held on Tuesdays.

Applicants should live within approximately 50 miles of Charleston, SC, including the surrounding Summerville and Mount Pleasant areas.
