Job summary

CarMax is hiring a Fleet Driver I in Mobile, AL. You will safely load and transport vehicles, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and ensure on-time delivery to CarMax locations and vendors.

The role requires a valid Class A CDL, 2+ years of CDL/CMV driving, a clean driving record, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Competitive hourly pay and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 21+ years old with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past 3 years; meet CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.
• Able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; secure, block, and restrain vehicles during transport.
• Able to climb, bend, and kneel to access and secure vehicles on multi-level transport decks.
• Must meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements.
• Comfortable outdoors in various weather and environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; adhere to CarMax safety standards.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the state.
• 2+ years of Class A CDL driving experience or 2+ years of CMV driving experience at CarMax.

Responsibilities

• Safety first — pre-trip and post-trip inspections per DOT and CarMax standards.
• Maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation.
• Load, secure, transport, and unload CarMax vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Move vehicles between CarMax locations and approved vendors using a company-provided truck.
• Deliver vehicles accurately and on time to support inventory flow.
• Represent CarMax professionally with vendors, store associates, and the public.
