Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Fleet Driver I in Asheville to transport vehicles between CarMax locations and approved vendors, ensuring safety and DOT compliance. You will load, secure, and unload cars, maintain logs, and move equipment as needed in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• All Drivers 21 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years.
• Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; secure, block, and restrain vehicles during transport.
• Must be able to climb, bend, and kneel to access and secure vehicles on multi-level transport decks.
• Ability to meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements.
• Comfortable working in outdoor environments, including exposure to noise and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Safety first — conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and CarMax standards using company hauler.
• Stay compliant — maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation.
• Transport with Care — load, secure, transport, and unload CarMax vehicles safely and efficiently, including hands-on freight handling, ladder climbing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Be accountable — move vehicles between CarMax locations and approved vendors using a company-provided truck, keeping your equipment clean, well-maintained, and operationally ready.
• Deliver with purpose — deliver vehicles accurately and on time to support inventory flow and keep customers and stores on schedule.
• Represent CarMax professionally – interact with vendors, store associates, and the public in a way that reflects our values every time.
