Job summary

Atlas Container Corporation in Severn, MD seeks a professional truck driver to safely operate a tractor-trailer and deliver sheets or finished products to customers, in compliance with state laws and company policies.

You will perform loading/unloading, verify counts, complete shipping papers, logs, and daily reports, perform routine vehicle checks, and report maintenance needs promptly to ensure on-time, accurate deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer to deliver sheets or finished products to customers in a safe, legal manner.
• Load/unload or assist loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
• Inspect load for proper loading and accuracy before leaving.
• Verify counts during unloading as applicable by customers.
• Maintain and transport load via prescribed routes following traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Obtain shipping documents, signatures, and return paperwork to shipping office.
• Complete daily reports and logs, including production data, truck service data, safety data, and quality data.
• Fill out timecards and other work reports accurately and timely.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, tire air, fuel) and keep the vehicle clean.
• Report maintenance items promptly and proactively coordinate with supervision.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures and maintain good housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer truck to deliver sheets or finished products to customers and in accordance with state laws.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Frequent sitting for extended periods of time (90% of day)
• Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
• Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving.
• Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
• Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Truck Service Data, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform daily services such as - checking the oil level, water level, fuel, air in tires, and clean vehicle as needed.
• Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.
