InterChange Express is seeking a Class A CDL Commercial Driver for the Day Shift as a DOT Yard Jockey in Harrisonburg, VA. The role focuses on safely moving trailers, maintaining reefer checks, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

The position requires a current CDL-A, Medical Examiner's Certificate, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Expect a 12-hour rotating schedule with weekend work and a mix of local and intermodal duties.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support local trailer movements at InterChange Cold Storage Facility and related local moves.

• Work a regular 12 hour shift on a 14 day rotating schedule with every other weekend.
• Complete required paperwork, logs, and shipping documents accurately and on time.
• Follow all safety rules and foster positive relationships with customers and staff.

Job Description :Class A CDL Commercial Driver - Day Shift : DOT Yard Jockey Operator

Location: Harrisonburg, VA

Pay Rate: $22-$24

Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility will be to safely operate assigned commercial motor vehicle in full compliance with all federal, state and local laws/regulations in the performance of assigned duties.
• The primary assignment will be to support local trailer movements at the InterChange Cold Storage Facility, but may be assigned other duties including, local shuttles, trailer fueling, and other local warehouse related moves as needed.
• Driver will also be responsible to maintain thorough scheduled checks on reefer operation, fuel levels, and temperature compliance of dropped units on site.
• Driver will be assigned to a regular 12 hour shift on a 14 day rotating schedule. Will require working every other weekend. Schedule will be matched with customer’s work hours so some work on minor holidays may be expected.
• Team member is responsible for communicating all issues related to the condition of company trucks and trailers to designated company staff. Team member will not operate or allow to be operated any equipment that would not meet federal, state or local standards.
• Team member will fill out, maintain and submit per requested schedules all required paperwork, logbooks, shipping documents and the like. Paperwork will be complete and accurately reflect the work performed.
• Team member will adhere to and follow all federal, state, local and company safely rules and regulations at all times.
• Team member will foster positive, appropriate and productive relationships with all customers and members of the general public through responsible driving habits and proper interactions.
• Team member must be flexible, open and agreeable to a wide range of assignments while "on-duty".
• Must foster positive, appropriate and productive relationships with all InterChange staff members and departments.
• Team member will be expected to perform all assigned duties as safely, quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid unneeded expense

Requirements:

• Minimum H.S. degree preferred
• Must hold a current CDL-A with a driving record acceptable to company insurance carrier
• Must hold a current Medical Examiners Certificate
• Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds at shoulder height
• Must be able to read and write well enough to understand and complete required documentation, shipping forms, road signs and other written communications.
• Ability to enter and exit truck cab safely and repeatedly during the work shift
• Ability to crank landing gear, operate 5 th wheel release, connect air/electrical lines without difficultly and repeatedly during work shifts
• Ability to properly secure loads using provided straps and other equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly open & close trailer & shipping container doors throughout the workday. Door weights may vary from 120 to 350lbs. each.
