Job summary

SST Direct is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Class A Boiler Operator for a direct hire in Memphis, TN. The role carries a 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM schedule with compensation of $28.00–$32.00 per hour and standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and a 401k with company match.

The position emphasizes preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, motors, pneumatic systems, and production machinery, with strong troubleshooting and fabrication capabilities.

Qualifications

• Class A Boiler Operator experience/qualification required.
• Industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience with conveyors, motors, pneumatic systems, and production machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, manuals, and technical specifications.
• Strong preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Safety-focused and able to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems, production machinery, and other mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using diagrams, schematics, manuals, and testing instruments.
• Inspect equipment and identify sources of mechanical issues through observation and measurements.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and replace defective components using tools.
• Measure and evaluate parts using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
• Adjust and align mechanical components and control devices.
• Fabricate or modify repair parts using machine shop equipment when needed.
• Perform routine inspections and patrol the building to address issues before failures occur.
• Support plant uptime goals and respond to maintenance calls promptly.
• Communicate issues to the Chief Engineer and Production Manager and assist with resolution.
• Maintain maintenance records and documentation.
• Monitor parts inventories and coordinate ordering and replenishment.
• Communicate maintenance activities with maintenance and production teams.
• Work with production personnel to promote preventive maintenance practices.
• Follow safety policies and procedures; maintain a clean work environment.
• Attend training and stay current with maintenance practices and technologies.
