Summary of Position
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning and overseeing the activities of all maintenance personnel; supervises all hourly and personnel, initiates safe work practices in all areas of the facility, executes an effective preventive/predictive maintenance program, manages an ongoing training program for maintenance personnel, minimizes breakdowns and ensures overall efficient operation of all facilities and equipment, participates in planning efforts toward facility and/or equipment modifications or additions, continuously improves company operations, and adheres to all company/plant policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the activities of all maintenance personnel to include Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians and MRO clerk.
- Responsible for professionally developing subordinates.
- Supervises the activities of all contracted personnel including maintenance service workers, vendors, and contractors.
- Develops work scopes/contracts for contracted outside service vendors, suppliers, and contractors. Administers scopes/contracts to ensure work is completed according to terms.
- Coordinates the day-to-day activities of maintenance personnel.
- Ensures adequate inventories of critical components are consistently on‑hand.
- Ensures maintenance personnel have appropriate hand tools, power tools and consumables.
- Plans and executes activities intended to provide continuous improvement in the company’s manufacturing practices.
- Utilizes CMMS system to manage work order and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
- Plans and administers an ongoing maintenance training program.
- Assists the Maintenance Manager in establishing yearly operating and capital budgets.
- Assists Maintenance Manager in execution/support of capital projects.
- Administers MRO budgets within the constraints of the approved annual limits.
- Works with other departments as necessary to plan and execute seamless modifications/additions to facilities and/or equipment.
- Assures safe work practices and company/plant policies are adhered to at all times.
- Administers and ensures local compliance with industrial safety and environmental regulatory programs (e.g., Arc Flash, ECP/LOTO, Confined Space, Stormwater, Haz Waste Handling, Hot Work, Working at Heights, PSM, etc.).
- Tracks and reports on maintenance key performance indicators and budget items.
- Responsible for facilities and support equipment monitoring and maintenance.
- Other responsibilities as directed by the Maintenance and Facilities Manager.

- Bachelor’s degree required; BSME or BSEE preferred, or 2‑5 years similar work experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Comprehends technical documents.
- Knowledge of technical aspects of facilities, safety and compliance regulations, LSS techniques and processes, and machine capabilities and functionality.
- Ability to understand and communicate strategic plans and navigate contractual language.
- Understanding of state and federal regulations, knowledge of operational procedures, knowledge of building systems, electrical and mechanical functions, and overall best practices.
- Demonstrates self‑assured decision making and critical thinking in a complex and quick‑changing environment.
- Ability to think strategically with a future focus and be willing to take calculated risks based on experience and reward.
- Ability to provide critical feedback, translating complex topics to simple steps with a focus on facilitation and presentation.
- SAP experience preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, bend, & stoop when required and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time.
- Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone.
Work Environment
This is a fast‑paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast‑changing environment. Many duties listed above are time‑sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
- Performs jobs under varying conditions (Dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, noise, etc.).
- Wears proper PPE in the manufacturing area (Shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required).
- Required to work in tight uncomfortable spaces and access roofs on an infrequent but as needed basis which will at times require working in areas that are uncomfortably hot or cold.
