Basic Function

Reports to the Maintenance Manager. This function provides maintenance support (Mechanical and Electrical) for equipment unavailability issues (breakdowns) and Preventative Maintenance of equipment throughout the facility on a daily basis. This function will also be required to support various improvement projects and other initiatives throughout the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Always a Champion for Safety and Prysmian.
  • This function will spend approximately 60% of their time working on breakdowns and projects with the other 40% dedicated to Preventative Maintenance tasks.
  • Must possess a general knowledge of process equipment throughout the facility.
  • Must possess a willingness to work with operations group to identify equipment issues and provide high quality issue resolution. Team building will be a key to success.
  • Multi-Craft Maintenance Tech will need to exhibit the following characteristics to be successful:
    • Sense of urgency for issue resolution.
    • Quick and accurate analytical judgment.
    • Initiative.
    • Poise under pressure.
    • Positive attitude.
  • Must develop effective mechanical and electrical control abilities and be able to learn how equipment operation impacts physical and electrical properties of product.
  • Effectively maintains regular and professional communication with all team members, supervisors, mentors, and engineers.
  • Candidate must be capable of independent decision making and providing leadership to those learning the equipment and processes.
  • Must complete tasks as directed by operations supervisor or direct manager.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
  • Candidate is currently a Maintenance Technician.
  • Working knowledge of modern, automated manufacturing systems.
  • Must possess basic understanding of AC/DC motors and controls, along with troubleshooting techniques.
  • Must properly complete shift work orders and PM work orders.
  • Must possess basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Must successfully complete a Fork Truck/Boom Lift certification course.
  • Employees are required to use the proper PPE in the course of their job. General requirements include safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection.
  • Must be able to walk the entire span of a 135,000 sq-ft plant multiple times every day.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and crawl in order to complete inspections and troubleshooting of machine issues.
  • Must be able to climb a 15’ ladder.
  • Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Must have basic job-related computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet web browser).
  • Must be able to work some overtime, weekends, holidays, off shifts, and be able to respond to callouts as needed to fulfill business objectives. Flexibility is necessary as to shift schedules, as there will be a few occasions where work during an abnormal shift will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with wire and cable processing equipment to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot equipment/process issues of the following types of equipment: (This also includes any auxiliary equipment associated the process)
  • Respool.
  • Twinning.
  • Bunching.
  • Primary Extrusion (HDPE & FEP).
  • Jacketing.
