Job summary

Pratt Industries in Rock Hill is seeking a Clamptruck Operator to handle paper rolls safely and efficiently within the corrugator area. You will unload rolls, read lineups, and inspect rolls for damage while maintaining accurate records and logs.

The role requires operating the clamptruck, performing shift inspections, and keeping the warehouse clean. You will assist the corrugator operator, monitor starch usage, and support safety and housekeeping practices daily.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • Prior corrugated industry experience preferred.
  • Industrial power truck experience preferred.
  • 6 months experience on the wet end of the corrugator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Move rolls of paper to the corrugator and record rolls on forms.
  • Read corrugator lineups and sort buttrolls by size, diameter, and grade.
  • Unload rolls from trailers/rail cars and note any damage.
  • Operate the clamptruck safely and perform shift start inspections.
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized and report maintenance needs.
  • Turn in roll stock tallies to supervisor or Scheduling Department.
  • Maximize equipment utilization and adhere to production schedules.
  • Assist corrugator operator as directed and prepare starch per formula.
  • Check viscosities and maintain daily starch checklist.
  • Monitor wastewater facility and chemical inventories.
  • Read MSDS and respond to chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Assist wet end training for doublebacker/dry end personnel.
  • Comply with all safety policies and housekeeping practices.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Job description

Summary

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the clamptruck.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking buttrolls first, and record all rolls taken to the corrugator on the proper forms.

  • Learn to read corrugator lineups.

  • Mark buttrolls as to the size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.

  • Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars. Check for and note any physical damage to the rolls.

  • Operate the clamptruck in a safe manner.

  • Complete clamptruck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.

  • Keep warehouse organized and clean.

  • Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.

  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.

  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.

  • Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision.

  • Make starch as needed per company formula.

  • Check viscosities on corrugator and at starch station as necessary.

  • Accurately record daily starch checklist.

  • Maintain the waste water treatment facility.

  • Monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals.

  • Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.

  • Assist in the wet end training of the doublebacker and dry end personnel.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.


EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED.


Candidates Are PREFERRED Who Offer The Following


  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

  • Prior industrial power truck or heavy equipment operating experience.

  • 6 months experience on the wet end of the corrugator.
