Job summary

International Paper in Indiana is seeking a warehouse/operator role focusing on corrugator support and paper roll handling. You will operate a clamp truck, assist the corrugator operator, and ensure accurate recording of roll usage while maintaining safe, clean work areas.

  • Operate the clamp truck safely and perform inspections.
  • Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness.
  • Assist the corrugator operator as directed.
  • Maintain starch and chemical inventories and related safety procedures.

Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must comply and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program.
  • Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking but rolls first, and record all rolls taken to the corrugator on the proper forms.
  • Learn to read corrugator lineups.
  • Mark but rolls as to the size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
  • Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars. Check for and note any physical damage to the rolls.
  • Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner.
  • Complete clamp truck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Keep warehouse organized and clean.
  • Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.
  • Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
  • Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision.
  • Make starch as needed per company formula.
  • Check viscosities on corrugator and at starch station as necessary.
  • Accurately record daily starch checklist.
  • Maintain the wastewater treatment facility.
  • Monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals.
  • Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Assist in the wet end training of the double backer and dry end personnel.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Education / Experience
  • 2 years clamp truck experience
  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Product quality specifications
  • Knowledge of Quality standards
Work Environment
  • Regular work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and temperature variations
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
  • Bump caps, ear protection, eye protection, and safety shoes are required.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. An individual frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. An individual must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty‑five pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
