Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance in Liberty Lake, Washington is seeking a Claims Specialist to join our Claims Team. You will manage an assigned caseload of routine to moderately complex claims from investigation through resolution, making decisions on liability, compensability, evaluating losses, and negotiating settlements.

The role collaborates with claimants, policyholders, appraisers, attorneys and other third parties, and offers training to strengthen skills for delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 1 year of claims handling experience.
• Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage, and medical terminology preferred.
• Proven interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
• Licensing may be required in some states.

Responsibilities

• Manages an inventory of claims to evaluate compensability/liability.
• Establishes action plans based on case facts and resources.
• Plans and conducts investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability and damages.
• Assesses policy coverage and notifies insured of issues; determines and establishes reserve requirements, adjusting reserves as necessary.
• Assesses actual damages and negotiates settlements within authority limits.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
