Job summary

Public Consulting Group is seeking a Claims Specialist payment processing clerk to support the San Diego Payment Services operation. You will issue ancillary payments to CalWORKs participants, manage payment data, and provide daily discrepancy reports while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an in-office setting from 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, in San Diego County.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and basic Access.
• Experience with payment processing, accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
• Experience with social service/public assistance programs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify proper forms; obtain signatures on all required forms and documentation.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with CalWORKs participants and County staff.
• Provide daily payment discrepancy reports and monthly reporting statistics to supervisor.
• Reconcile daily payments issued and ensure policy compliance.

The clerks will be responsible for accurately issuing ancillary payments to CalWORKs participants. These staff will be responsible for managing, collecting, tracking, and reporting information for ancillary payments in various software programs including and Calsaws.Specific Responsibilities:Identify proper forms; obtain signatures on all required forms and documentation.Establish and maintain good working relationships with partners including CalWORKs participants and County staff.Provide monthly reporting statistics to supervisor for designated area of responsibility.Provide daily payment discrepancy report.Reconcile daily payments issued.Monitor accuracy/timeliness of payment processing.Verify that payment request submitted meets policy guidelines and/or entered into CalSAWS for authorization.Required Skills:Proper etiquette including customer relation techniques, superior verbal and communications skills.Excellent accuracy and attention to detailAbility to prioritize work and meet deadlines.Ability to recognize and maintain the confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.Understanding of modern office methods and practices; efficient with computers.
