Job Title: Claims Oversight Specialist (Attorney or Senior Adjuster – NY Experience Required)

Duration: Long-Term Engagement

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced claims professional—either a claims attorney or senior-level adjuster—to join our outside counsel management team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience managing general litigation cases, with a strong focus on premises liability and motor vehicle accident claims. This role involves high-level oversight of outside counsel and requires strong case evaluation and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently manage and oversee a portfolio of 100+ litigation cases handled by outside counsel
• Monitor and review file updates, case strategies, and motion practice
• Collaborate with outside counsel and internal investigators to develop defense strategies
• Review and comment on motions, mediation statements, and other legal filings
• Enter detailed notes and case updates into the case management system
• Prepare and present settlement requests and make informed reserve recommendations
• Evaluate case values with a strong understanding of New York litigation and settlement trends
• Review submitted legal bills and ensure appropriate case handling

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of litigation claims handling (as an attorney or senior adjuster)
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, general litigation caseloads
• Deep knowledge of New York liability law, case valuation, and reserve practices
• Strong understanding of litigation processes and strategy development
• Tech-savvy with experience using case management software, Outlook, Excel, and other productivity tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) with active or former bar admission preferred, especially in New York
• Prior experience working in-house or in a TPA or insurer setting overseeing defense counsel
