Job summary

Telnet, Inc. is seeking a Logistics Claims Specialist to investigate OS&D claims, audit shipping documents, and manage deductions and chargebacks.

The role collaborates with Warehouse Operations, Billing, Customer Service, Transportation, and Finance to resolve discrepancies and optimize AR/AP impacts from settlements. Strong Excel skills and ERP proficiency are essential for data reconciliation and process improvement.

Qualifications

• Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and data reconciliation.
• Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities for carrier/vendor disputes.
• High attention to detail and ability to interpret contracts and insurance guidelines.
• Experience with OS&D claims investigation and dispute handling is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Investigate OS&D claims, shipment refusals, and carrier disputes.
• Audit POD, BOL, shipping documentation and inspection photos to verify claims.
• Research deductions and overpayments to determine credits or chargebacks.
• File and track freight claims with carriers, freight forwarders, and underwriters.
• Negotiate settlements and recoveries according to carrier liability rules and contracts.
• Maintain and update claims aging reports to minimize outstanding balances.
• Collaborate with Warehouse Operations, Billing/Settlement, Customer Service, and Transportation to resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Accounting and Finance to reconcile AR/AP impacts from deductions and settlements.
• Track claim trends and identify systemic bottlenecks to drive improvements.
• Recommend packaging, handling, or routing improvements to mitigate cargo loss.

Job description

• Investigate OS&D (Overage, Shortage, and Damage) claims, shipment refusals, and carrier disputes.
• Audit Proof of Delivery (POD), bills of lading (BOL), shipping documentation, and inspection photos to verify the legitimacy of claims.
• Research deductions, customer disputes, and overpayments to determine whether credit is warranted or whether chargebacks/repay letters need to be issued.
• File and track freight claims with carriers, freight forwarders, and insurance underwriters.
• Negotiate settlements and recoveries according to carrier liability rules, contracts, and insurance coverage.
• Maintain and update claims aging reports to minimize outstanding balances.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Settlement

• Work closely with Warehouse Operations, Billing/Settlement, Customer Service, and Transportation teams to resolve operational discrepancies.
• Coordinate with Accounting and Finance teams to reconcile accounts receivable (AR)/accounts payable (AP) impacts from deductions and settlements.
• Track claim trends and metrics (e.g., claim frequency by carrier, product type, or region) to identify systemic operational bottlenecks.
• Recommend packaging, handling, or routing process enhancements to mitigate recurring cargo damage or loss.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in logistics and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Cello Logistics Platform, WMS/TMS).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data reconciliation).
• Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills for handling carrier and vendor disputes.
