San Antonio, TX (Kirby Area)| Full-Time | On-Site
If you're someone who likes to take ownership, investigate the details, solve problems, and keep complicated matters moving toward resolution, this may be the opportunity for you.
We're looking for an experienced Claims & Risk Specialist to manage and coordinate property and liability claims across our construction operations. This is a hands‑on role where you'll work directly with insurance carriers, adjusters, attorneys, employees, operations teams, vendors, and members of the public.
The work is varied and often time-sensitive. One day you may be investigating a commercial vehicle accident or property damage allegation; the next you may be reviewing claim exposure, coordinating with outside counsel, responding to a claimant, or tracking the financial development of an active claim.
You’ll have meaningful ownership of your workload and the opportunity to use your judgment and claims expertise while working alongside Safety, Human Resources, Operations, Accounting, and company leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Administer and coordinate commercial auto, general liability, property, and subcontractor claims from initial incident reporting through resolution.
- Serve as a primary liaison among insurance carriers, adjusters, brokers, third‑party administrators, legal counsel, employees, operations personnel, vendors, claimants, property owners, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate directly and professionally with members of the public regarding vehicle, property, and other alleged damages.
- Coordinate claim investigations, inspections, documentation, meetings, records requests, and litigation‑support activities.
- Maintain complete and accurate claim files, including incident reports, photographs, statements, invoices, legal documents, and supporting records.
- Monitor claim activity, costs, reserve development, deadlines, financial exposure, and outstanding action items.
- Work with Accounting to coordinate claim‑related expenditures, deductible obligations, reimbursements, settlements, legal expenses, and other approved payments.
- Prepare and maintain reports on claim activity, financial exposure, loss trends, reserve development, and significant claim developments.
- Assist with litigation management, subpoenas, document production, governmental inquiries, and other legal or regulatory requests.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and recordkeeping for sensitive medical, legal, financial, and claims information.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 3–5+ years of experience in claims administration, insurance, risk management, or a related legal field.
- Experience managing multiple claims and competing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with claimants, attorneys, carriers, executives, operations personnel, and other stakeholders—including during difficult or sensitive situations.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word & Excel, and the ability to work effectively with claims‑management systems, carrier portals, and reporting tools, Aclaimant experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Texas as needed.
- Ability to work on‑site in our San Antonio office Monday through Friday.
Preferred Experience & Credentials
- Experience in construction, transportation, commercial fleet operations, utilities, or another high‑risk operating environment.
- Experience with commercial auto, general liability, property, or subcontractor liability claims.
- Experience working directly with insurance carriers, brokers, TPAs, adjusters, and legal counsel.
- Experience using claims‑management systems, carrier platforms, reporting tools, and claims analytics.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, insurance audits, litigation support, records management, or regulatory compliance.
- Texas Claims Adjuster License, Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
Relevant experience is highly valued, and professional certifications or licenses are preferred—not required.
The Environment
This is an individual-contributor position with no direct reports and significant interaction across the organization and with external parties. The role is primarily office-based in San Antonio, with periodic travel within Texas for attorney meetings, court-related matters, job sites, accident scenes, and other claim-related activities.
We operate in a fast-moving construction environment where claims don't always arrive neatly packaged with an obvious answer. The right person will be comfortable digging into the facts, coordinating multiple parties, keeping track of the financial and administrative details, and seeing matters through to resolution.
